Using the Membership Tool

Hi All:


Our org has a program called "Friend of the Foundation" which is for folks that give $2,500 annually, and a "Circle of Excellence" which is for folks that give $1,000 annually. They get certain benefits and newsletters throughout the year.


We recently upgraded to NXT, and with it came the Membership Module. I'm trying to figure out its feasibilty to help manage this program, which currently is done in a rather cumbersome way with Attributes. Does anyone else use the Membership tool for this kind of thing? Any tips -- pros or cons?

We use the membership module to track giving to our $1,000+ level, though we have been back and forth for a couple of years about changing the way we track it. We also have various membership levels we use the module for. The membership module is useful for tracking benefits, join dates, expiration dates, etc. The one shortfall I see with the module is that it is more difficult to pull a past membership transaction once it has already been renewed upon (e.g., someone who renewed in February if 2017, but has already renewed in 2018). It is still possible, just a bit more cumbersome to pull.

We use the Membership module for exactly what you're talking about doing here.  I would agree with Megan about that once caveat, but otherwise it has been wonderful to have and use to track our donor club memberships.
