Adding interest automatically to constituent profile through link clickthrough

Here is what I'd like to do and am having a hard time figuring out how to make work:

I would like our eNewsletter subscribers to be able click on a link embedded in our newsletter and to have that user added to an interest opt-in group. I was under the impression that you can do that through the WYSIWYG editor, but through my testing, anyone who has clicked on the link in our test email has not shown up in this group. Has anyone tried to do this? I can't seem to find any documentation on how to troubleshoot.

  • You would have to test this on an actual real message that you send out just limit the audience to say a set of constituent records that are your records or your coworks that you also use as a review audience. The link that is sent in a test or review message doesn't get processed the same way in the system so you likely wouldn't see the results of someone being added to a group. I think you would also have to enable autologin links in the message for this to work correctly.
