CAL_FILTERABLE_CALENDAR_EMBED_ENABLED attribute

Options

Hi,

Can we set CAL_FILTERABLE_CALENDAR_EMBED_ENABLED to TRUE to see how this changes how our calendar is displayed and then return it to FALSE without any adverse effects (i.e. broken calendar links on event pages?)

  • I don't have the answer -- but I am also dying to know. Has anyone gotten started using the Filtered Calendar Components yet? Some sort of implementation guide and/or examples would be incredibly helpful.

  • Yes, you can do exactly that. The main issue with turning on the filterable calendar components is that, if you have not added any of the new attributes to your existing events, then there will be nothing in the events for the filters to work with.

Switching back and forth poses no risk to your events, however.

  • Your answer is helpful. Thank you.

    MORE QUESTIONS

    1) If we choose to turn on the new calendar component, can we still drive constituents to one big calendar that lists all events AND add calendar components filtered by specific attributes to other pages?

    2) Does setting the affiliate tag limit who can see events or is it just another means of filtering?

    3) If a page is conditionalized, can you add a different calendar component to each conditional?

Hi, I'll tackle these in order.

    1) Yes, you can still use the standard system calendar page, or you can create your own calendar component that includes all of your events to replace the system generated calendar page.

    2) The affiliate tage can be used by the administrator to pre-filter which events are even available on the calendar component, and you can choose to also make the affiliate tag a constituent facing filter if you wish. So, in short, it can be used both ways.

    3) You can only have one calendar component on a page at a time because the filtering mechanism is somewhat separate from the component itself. If you have more than one calendar component, the filters applied to any one component will also be applied to the other components.

  • Hi James,

Thanks so much! The info you provided is very helpful.
