Parking Lot Post: Downloading Transactions in Online Express - 03/08/2018

Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday afternoon for our Downloading Transactions in Online Express webinar! I hope the presentation was helpful! As promised, here are the answers to a few questions we didn't quite get to:

We need to add a constituent code, mail method, and salutation to new donor records.

If you need some pre-set information added to new donor records, you can also create what we call "Default Sets" in The Raiser's Edge. You can then choose under Account > Integration Options > Constituents to specify what solicit code you'd like to add to new Online Express donors and which default set you'd like to apply to these donors as well. We have some great information in this Knowledgebase solution if you'd like to explore this option: How to use a default set for new constituents downloaded in Online Express.

We have a donor who accidentally made 3 online gifts (instead of one). Do I need to download each gift? Or is there anything I can do before to fix their mistake?

If the donor accidentally made 3 online gifts, you'll need to process refunds for the gifts in the Blackbaud Merchant Services portal: How do I refund a transaction? While you can download each gift, you can also go ahead and delete the extra gifts from the Download Transactions screen as well before they go into the database.

We also recommend that you "mark the gifts refunded" in Online Express, which will exclude them from your reporting:
  1. Click on Donations. Then click on View transaction history.
  2. In the Transaction History window, search for the desired transaction.
  3. Locate the row in the results.
  4. Click Mark as refunded on far right. (NOTE: Clicking Mark as Refunded does not issue the refund. Follow the steps in this article:  How do I refund a transaction? to issue the actual funds to the donor.)
  5. Click Close.
If you uncheck the EFT box in error when the transactions are in batch, will the payment card information be deleted?

Nope! If you uncheck the EFT box, this won't remove the payment information, but you will want to leave the EFT box checked so that this payment is available to the EFT module in the future!

I hope this information is helpful! Comment below if you have any other questions!

Have a great weekend and see you at the next webinar!
