Querying for multiple (unique) field entries

Options
Hi all,

For database management purposes, I'm looking for a way to export / query information of a few fields of constituents. The constituents of which I want to have information is in a list (csv, xlsx, txt etc) and I would like to use these constituent id's to querie those and then export the info.

Now the only way I see now to do this is to make a query, add a criterium for the constituent ID, and say "constituent id equals one of" and then enter it in the list that shows up. In here unfortunately I cannot just copy paste multiple rows/lines or import a file.

Is there a better way to acchieve this?

Kind regards, Timo

    Kind regards, Timo

another way that was suggested to me was to import these constituent IDs and give them a new constituent code or attribute and then query and export all constituents with this new atrribute. Now this still feels very cumberstone to me, so hopefully one of you might know of a better way to do this.

  • I'm confused

Do you have an existing file (a CSV or TXT file) that has all the con ids?

If so why can't you just copy the con ids and paste them into the box in the query for Con ID is one of?  Here is a post that describes this much better than I just tried to.
  • Hi Joanne,

Sorry if I was unclear. I have such a file indeed, and want to do exactly what you described. The copy paste method didnt work, untill I read the post you mentioned. Thank you so much, it works now!

I tried some things in that dialog, but without the scrolling down it didnt work.

Thank you also for your quick response! :-)
  • You might like this as well. It allows you to copy and paste a list with more than 500 entries at once:

And for the future, in case you don't have the IDs available to you, there's also the "Specific Record" field under the Constituent node which allows you to select specific records by name rather than having to know their ID to type it in.

My coworker taught me the trick for "One of" last summer. It's not very obvious at all: scroll all the way to the bottom and click the very last cell. CTRL+V to paste. Your items will copy over! If you have more than 500, only the first 500 will paste in, though, so you may need multiple One Of Constituent ID with an OR.

(I was going fast and didn't notice the link. yes, this was linked in the above post, too!)
