I am a new user to RE.  I went to open a past query in my file (tI was going to do thank you letters from a batch) and all the files are gone! I can find past queries at all....

If you use Query folders at your organization, it's possible the Query you are looking for is in another folder than the one in which you are looking. It's also possible the Query was deleted by another user.
  • If it was deleted, can it be recreated? Thank
    you!

If you're wondering whether they can be "restored" I think the answer is no, but you can recreate them. If disappearing Queries are a concern for you, you might want to restrict the "Other users may run this query" and "Other users may modify this query" options in the future. You might also need to have a conversation with your group of users about general Query management in your database and how users interact with each other's saved files. If you think your Query might still exist but you're just having trouble remembering what it is called or where it is located, there are a few ways to look for it. I often open an export or report and pick "selected records" to access the "Open Query" search menu. From there, I use the asterisk wild card in the Query name field along with my user name in the Created by field to try and find the file.

If you're looking at the query window are the Type and Format set to show all?

If you're looking for your query from the select records in Mail look at the options at the bottom of the screen. Are they unchecked? Every once in a while I some how get the box checked for 'show query lists only.' I doesn't show a key stroke to un/check it but I know I'm not hitting it with my mouse. I've thought I lost query also.
  • I found the answer to my issues by changing some of the filters and creating a new batch queary.  Thank you for all the suggestions!
