Internet Explorer 8 - Changing compatibility mode while logged in will cause Browser Verification Error

Options

If you use Internet Explorer 8, and you choose to change to Compatibility Mode while logged into a Convio site, our security measures will notice that the browser agent string changed from Internet Explorer 8 to Internet Explorer 7, and you will be immediately logged out. You will see a message like this:

There was a verification problem with your session. Please open a ticket at http://support.convio.com/ and paste into it the following information:

Browser signature verification failure

Session ID = j3bo8bylm1.adm8009

This will only occur if you make the change to Compatibility Mode (or out of it) while logged in. If you are already in this mode, things should work fine.

  • One person here had IE 8 installed, and Convio did all sorts of weird things. It wouldn't maintain his login, so he'd have to log in almost every time he clicked anything. The login screen showed the warning about the WYSIWYG not being available to him (like you see in FF, for example), but it of course worked just fine. He didn't get the signature failure error, just the login screen and he never changed the Compatibility Mode.
