Is there a way to skip collecting shipping address when you're selling items that won't actually be delivered?

Is there a way to skip the step of collecting the shipping information? We're working on a holiday campaign where items are purchased for the organization - never delivered to the donor.

I am new to Convio, but when I was working on the product upload spreadsheet/.csv, there was a column called "Requires Shipping Info" (Column R). This is a Yes or No field. I can't test anything yet, but this might be where to start.

Did anyone ever get an answer about this? We're setting up a store for donors at a company that hosts a workplace giving campaign. Donors will place the order for gifts through the store but they will not be shipped to the donor, they'll just pick them up at their workplace.

We don't want to ask for shipping address, just:

    - First name

    - Last name

    - Employee ID#

    - Work email address

Is there any way to configure this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Did anyone find an answer to this question? I still don't see an option in configuration to completely remove shipping from the checkout process when it is not being used for an e-store.

    Thanks in advance!
  • This is a bit tricky.

You can remove the shipping option being required/showing in the checkout process by going to each product that is going to be sold in the store and go to Step 10, Shipping Charges. By default, Number 1. Ask the purchaser for shipping information and Number 2. Apply standard shipping charge to purchase of this product are enabled.

Uncheck both of these options and 'Save'.

You might have to clear your cache to see this updated as eComm is notorious for holding cache for a long time.

    ---------------------

    Option 1

Now, if you want to collect the employee id number, that is where it gets a bit difficult. You could either do that when the product is being purchased by using the Tribute Configuration(Step 7 on the product). See an example we have here: luriechildrens.org/kddinner On the individual ticket we collect guest information. Using Tribute Configuration allows us to do that. (Note: there are more fields you can use, this is just a store we have live)

    Option 2

Another option is to keep the shipping option enabled and go to the store you are using and find Step 12. Configure Standard Pages. On this page 'Edit' the Cart, Checkout, Single Address Entry Pages Page.

Check Ask for Gift Note at the top in Components to Include on Cart, Checkout, Single Address Entry Pages.

On the same page, scroll down to Gift/Alternate Shipping Information. Edit Gift Note Label and Gift Signature Label to Employee #. Unfortunately both will appear on the Shipping page. We use this for Board Member referrals.

Another limitation is that there is then a line about shipping added to the screen just before a purchaser completes the purchase.

You can see how we are using this here: luriechildrens.org/crfjbspringevent  Try to purchase any of the products for a little more detail on Tribute Fields from the first option. Once you click 'Proceed to Checkout', you will see the Gift Note Label and Gift Signature Label at the bottom of the shipping page. Now, there is a checkbox that defaults to use the shipping address as the billing address, so that can save the purchaser from filling out their information on the billing information page.

On the billing page, just use the dummy credit card (Visa, 4111111111111111, 1111) and click Next Step to see the shipping message on the review page.

    Hope this helps,

    Phil
