End of Year stewardship message Conditionals: how do they work?

Options

Great question came to me in email today:

This text is in the End of Year fundraising guide regarding the stewardship message that is part of the campaign: "Your donor-specific version of this message will go to anyone for whom we have an online giving history. Your non-donor version will go to all other constituents."

Question: I thought that the ecard donor and non donor versions would address those who donated to the kick-off campaign and those who haven't, respectively. The above text implies that one version will be for anyone who has given "EVER." Can you clear this up for me?

Answer:The conditional will be based on whether or not they have a gift history IN CONVIO. The reason that this is important is that at the end of the year, if you have a donor who gave a gift as part of any other campaign, we want them to receive the message that includes the language "... thank you for your gift..." to ensure that they are acknowledged for their financial support, regardless of which campaign they supported.*

The final message (the last chance to give) will only be sent to contacts who have not donated to this particular campaign, and the only people who will NOT receive this message are people who have donated to this specific campaign.

*It's important for you to know that every contact in Convio Constituent360 has a field called "Donor Status", which will either be marked as "Donor, Non-Donor, or Null (blank)". The conditional for the stewardship eCard is based on this field in the constituent profile. For all records that have been uploaded to Convio, the donor status field starts by being null, if they ever become a donor by making an online donation, Convio will automatically change that status to "Donor". If a contact record incepts into Convio by filling out an online Convio survey or registration form, then that record will automatically be marked as a "Non-donor".

Hope this helps, let me know if I can expand further,

Adam
