Using Convio in Conjunction with a TV phone bank donor drive

Great question came in through email:

Adam,

Next week we will be doing a having a phone bank on TV, and viewers will be calling in their donation information. Can we enter these donations through Convio? Is there special information that we should be asking donors for (or anything special that we should be doing)? Thanks!

The quick answer to this is that you could use your online Convio Donation form as a way to enter in the Donors' information as they call in and provide that to you. This would be accomplished by simply having the person who answers the phone, slowly walk through the donation form requesting the different pieces of information, and then filling out the form and submitting the donation.

There is not anything special that needs to be done, but there are quite a few things that you need to consider before diving in:

1) Make sure that your phone bank staff is familiar and comfortable with using the Convio donation form.

2) These donors will be required to enter in their email address (your Convio donation form requires email address).

3) All of these donors will still receive the autoresponder receipt (the email that has the details of their donation).

One thing that you might consider doing, is to create a copy of your existing donation form, so that you have a separate donation form for these donations that will come in through the phone bank. The reason that this can be helpful is that you will be able to run reports on this newly copied form, helping you distinguish these gifts from other donations that are coming in through your website.
