how to view event page before it goes live

Options
I just created my first event page but want to review what the entire page will look like on our website before embedding the java script.  I Under edit, all I can see are the price points. Also, if you have an easy way of explaining how to embedd the java script, that would be be awesome!

Thanks,

Elise Strom

  • I had this problem just the other day! If you are in Online Express, click on Events on the top of the page. From there, locate where your event form is (if it is your first one, you should only have one). Next, on the right side of the form you will see, Edit, Copy, Delete, or  Preview. If you click Preview, it will show you exactly how it will look prior to going live!

I hope this helps! Good Luck!
  • I will try preview...but I think it was just one section that I could preview...i will try again and post an update!  TY.

No problem! I just tried to preview on my event form and it made me select a few things before I could view the whole form (it basically treats you as if you were a donor filling it out online). For example, we are having a fishing tournament and in order to preview the rest of the form, I had to select the quanity first. Once I did that, I was able to scroll and view the rest of the form!

  • do have easy steps to actually add the java script to your site?

    Hi Elise,

This is a great thread! Online Express will create a form that can sit on any webpage on your organization's website. I like to think of your website as the structure of the page (you can also add any introductary information about the event, pictures, on your webpage), and the form is working as a window into Raiser's Edge. The advantage to this is that your donors aren't directed to a third party page to register for your event--all of these transactions can happen on your website with the help of Online Express.

Keep in mind, the steps to embed the JavaScript form will be different for everyone, depending on what type of website platform you're using. If you're still looking for steps on how to embed the form onto your website, we have some instructions here for some of the popular website platforms: Tips to Embed Forms with Popular CMS Tools.

I also see that your organization's donation page is still using Blackbaud NetCommunity. If you need the ability to quickly create webpages and have Blackbaud host those pages, NetCommunity can definitely meet your needs there. If you want to embed an Online Express form on NetCommunity, we have instructions here.

I hope this infomration is helpful!
