Survey question (unsubscribe related)

Options

For privacy reasons we've had to turn off all of the normal auto-tracking features in Convio, so when our emails go out the links don't do any kind of auto login.

My question is, is there a way to set up a survey so that a user could click on a generic link to the survey, enter in their email address on that survey page and then have that email address unsubscribed from a specific alert group without requiring them to log in?

  • hey eric,

I think if you set up a survey with a constituent registration question that only included email.

I'm not sure however, you can take them out of a group.

You can add them to an email interest, and I think you could set up a thank you page, and using the link options to remove them from an interest (I'm not sure you can do that with a question in a survey however).

But I do not think you can do that for a group -- although you could set up the survey such that they are added to a group that is excluded from any emails.

  • You can specify the argument RemoveInterest=1234 (where 1234 is the id of the interest category you want to unsubscribe) on any link to remove a logged-in user from a subscription. Changing interests is considered a low security operation, so if the link is in an email (even if the link is not an autologin link) it will apply to the recipient of the email.

There's no way, however, to combine that with an email address entered in a survey to determine the user that it should apply to in the event that the link is not in an email and the user is not logged in.
