Feature Request RE: Constituent Import

Options

I'd like to request an update to the Constituent Import Process in Convio. When using the tool to make mass changes to already existing records, I'm required to provide the member ID and the primary email. Seeing that our member ID is the primary ID of our external database, and seeing that the email address in Convio is somewhat likelier to be more up to date than in our external database (on account of the fact that Convio provides a direct resource for updating your own email address), it would be nice if I only had to provide the member ID. As is, it just creates more hastle and possibly less matches when I have to provide two keys. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this? I know it would drastically reduce my workflow.

  • Hey Colin,

A few releases ago we created a custom constituent import feature where you are able to make your own import and establish some rules around how it handles different things. The upload file still requires email, or last name (the specifics are in the help if I remember correctly). The advantage in this is that you can ignore columns in the upload file. This would allow you to include member_id and primary_email but ignore the primary_email column. This may get you closer to the functionality that you are looking for.
