Has anyone been able to get AIX FTP client to over TLS when sending files to Blackbaud?

We are trying to setup an automated process of uploading files to the FTP site for constituent updates. We are using AIX FTP client but cannot get it to work when using TLS which we need to use to give some security to the transmission of constituent data. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
