Autofill fields on registration survey

We want to add a simple entry point for site registration that consists of one field for a visitor's email address. The submit button links to our standard site registration survey.

How can I have the address entered in the initial email field autofill the email field in the survey?

In my experience as long as the survey that you are using for the quick registration is logging the constituent in as it creates the record then it should automatically populate that information on any other survey the constituent is taken to while their session is still alive. The important thing here is that if someone puts their email address in the quick register and that email address already exists in the database they will be indentified to the system but they will not necessarly be authenticated. If they were anyone that knew a constituents email address could log in as that individual with out their password.
