creating a report based on criteria that isn't available in the Export

Options
First - We are hosted, so many of you know what that means when it comes to data.

I need to create a report that displays constituents who have given GTE a specific amount within a specific date range that includes the total gift amount for that date range only as well as contact information.  I have no problem creating the query to get the gifts for that day, however, it's the total amount of gifts criteria that is a problem.  I thought I could use the summary information field, but that just gives the total amount of all gifts no matter if I add the date <ask> criteria or not for that section.  So I thought I might be able to do it in the export to Crystal option, but again, not available to use the date "ask" field.  Even if I use criteria in the export like starting gift amount, it's still only targeting a single gift at 10k instead of a sum of the gifts.  I cannot use the Crystal select expert to restrict the data read into the report since the sum field is not correct and only provides the total of all gifts.

So I am stuck with performing an export of the data and then creating an external report with either Tableau or Access, etc.  Now my problem is that I want to enable this export to download to a network drive on our server so that it's not saved specifically on my computer, but in my viewer, I cannot see any of my current connections to select one of our network drives.

Is there any hope or am I truly going to be the person who has to run this every time and distribute the report?

PS - I thought at one time I saw something that allowed me to connect directly to Excel from RE, but I don't remember what that was. I wish external connections from other software to our RE instance was possible.

Just to make sure that we are on the same page. I understand you want a report where you input a specific amount and date range, lets say everybody that gave a gift of $5000 in 2017

and then output the total gift amount for this date range. Or are you looking for somebody that gave a total of $x in 2017 and want to output that total amount?

Have you tried Pivot reports (under Reports)? You could set your date range as filter. The Pivot reports can be run directly from Raisers Edge and you can share them with your team.

In Crystal reports, you can set up one or more Parameter fields.  It works similar to an "Ask" in query.
