Non-Profit Compensation Related to # of Gifts Processed

Does anyone know of a salary compensation report that considers the # of donations processed in its evaluation?

I don't know of one and unless you're pitting staff against staff in the same org I don't know how you could measure it at all.

There are so many factors to processing a gift: constituent record new vs. exists; pledge with payment plan to set vs one-time, payment method - credit card data to enter, check info, cash; batch of one-time gifts vs. auto generating monthly EFTs or payroll gifts; and so many more factors. Data required to be entered by orgs varies so much.

Do you know of one for data roles? I have never actually seen one that focused on a database administrators function, only those that evaluated gift officers.

  • This might be the most helpful since it breaks it out by org size and location, although this one is Greater NYC which might be a little higher than Thompkins County.

Never heard of a salary survey based on number of gifts, especially since you don't really have much control over that.  Org budget size is probably more accurate.

What is the job title for this? I think that we would have to know what exact job you're referring to. Some organizations have people who just process gifts and report to a Database Manager and at other smaller organizations the Database Manager does a lot of the entry too.

  • Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I can see how it would be nearly impossible to use this as a criteria. We happen to receive a very large number of donations, I suspect much larger than other non-profits in our area, and was hoping to get some help "weighting" the local salary survey results.

Thank you for the reference. It's a good one. I found a similar one for New England and it's interesting to see the similarities and the differences.
