How to number rows in a report

Hello!


I'm hoping I can describe this well enough, but I have a report we use for keeping track of who is seating at a gala table.


The table is sorted in descended order by participation (table captain, co-captain, attendee) so the table captain is the first line on the table roster. It is then sorted alpha by last name.


What I'm trying to figure out how to do - if it is possible - is create a formula/function that will put a number next to the person's name so we can easily see how many people are at a table without having to count them by hand


We do have seat numbers but since this is being sorted using that wouldn't work as the seat number probably does not correspond to where they end up on the sorted list


Thoughts?

I would try adding a running total and do a count for each record.
