Rolling donor acquisition

Options
Is NXT's rolling donor acquisition report accurate? It seems to have grossly miscalculated our data.

For example, on December 2016 the report shows 991... Meaning we'd acquired 991 donors from January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016. When I run a query in RE7 looking for constituents with a first gift in that same date range, I get 1829. How is that possible? The number in NXT should be even higher, since it counts donors who lapse for 5 or more years as new again.

  • Hi, Kelly.  We're not on NXT yet but your question brought an instant thought to me:  Make sure your RE query is a CONSTITUENT query and not a GIFT query. Just a suggestion.

  • The donor acquisition analytics in NXT isn't run by a query.

  • Totally understand.  I was referring to your double check in database view.  But, like I said, I'm not on the program yet.

Good luck in finding your answer.
  • Thanks for replying. I did indeed use a constituent query in RE7 when I double checked it. The report in NXT is just poorly designed.

I've poked around in NXT more and discovered that "acquired" donors turn into "retained" donors as soon as they give a second gift. If you make your first gift in January, and your second in Feburary, you're now "retained."

The NXT aquisition report makes it look like our acquisition is declining, but in reality more and more of our acquired donors are giving monthly.

  • Do you know if it is possible to apply filters to the rolling donor acquisition? It looks like it does not get updated to me
  • I don't think you can. When you change the filters, it changes all the reports except for rolling.

Go give this idea a vote and maybe they'll change it. https://renxt.ideas.aha.io/ideas/RENXT-I-1111

    Thanks!
