Can I export specific NXT Ratings from Database?

Options
Hello everyone!

My CDO wants a report that contains the "Next Gift Amount" (NXT terminology) which in Database View is the "Minimum Ask Amount" and the "Maximum Ask Amount".  I can't seem to get just these two ratings out of the Database view.  I have to take all the NXT ratings categories to get the 2 that I want, and there doesn't appear to be any set pattern to how they show up in the output.

Can anyone help? Something I'm missing?

Thank you!

  • You're not missing anything, Tammie. Export only allows you to filter based on Rating Source, not Rating Category, and yes they come out in random order. For this type of task I'd export everything and then work in Excel. The random output will make it complicated, but if you sort, you can insert columns to try and line things up. I've successfully done this before with 30,000+ records, but it is time consuming.

  • Couldn't you create the list in NXT?  The Next Ask Amount and the Maximum Ask Amount are available columns.  And you can export the file now directly from NXT.  I haven't tried it yet, but it would seem if you're looking for NXT fields, you would want to start there rather than trying to force the information out of the database view.

    Good luck!

Aaron is correct in that Export is not the tool that exports the ratings in s useful manner which is too bad.  I created a query that pulls our ratings into individual columns and then I use the query options to choose my query to pull ratings for those people.  I then use Excel and VLookup formulas to add to my export by whatever specific I desire.  Tip:  In the Prospect Ratings query, I renamed the columns to add what column number they were so that I could easily identify and choose the column number when building my vLookup formulas.

I will be the first to admit there's so much that I don't know about NXT yet, but I've seen that some queries that are created in the NXT web view get somehow just pushed over into the database view.  What do you all think about trying to do a pivot report off that query?  Would that be helpful?

  • Tammy, I feel your pain! Not being able to easily extract the wealth data via query/export is a HUGE inconvenience. Even worse--there is overlapping data -- "A" for 5 stars in Overall  Rating and "A" for Annual Donor in Recommended Donor Type, which get co-mingled in the same columns as you cannot silo the data into its own column. Who came up with those?!? I have brought up this issue with Target Analytics and I get the same response-post it in the Idea Bank, which I have done.

We use Overwealth Rating (Stars) in EVERY report and my solution has been to make an OWR Attribute and which is  = to the OWR, and becasue it is an Attribute I can easily extract it.  I run a daily check of OWR updates (via a query) and then manually update the Attribute in th records that pop-up. The original set-up was timeconsuming (lots of global changes to get the Attribute into the records that already had the various OWR) but now it is easy as it is typically only a few records each day.
