Well they can't be applied to both a recurring gift AND a pledge, in case that's what you're trying to do.


How are you entering these gifts? Via batch or some kind of import?

What might be more effective is to convert the pledge to a recurring gift (done in the Gift tab of the gift record toolbar), if the primary payments are to be done through the recurring gifts or payroll deductions. If the donor still wishes to make additional gifts, those could be entered separately as individual (non-pledge) gifts, or you could apply them to the recurring gift and then rollback the transcation schedule so that the payroll deduction schedule keeps on pace.


I don't think it is possible to otherwise apply a gift type of "pay-recurring gift" to a pledge or vice-versa. Whether entering in Batch or individually, pay-cash and recurring gift-cash are not data entry options - they are assigned after the gift record is linked to a pledge/recurring gift and then saved.

Just in case this is what you're trying to do, "cash" type gifts can be applied retroactively to either pledges or recurring gifts.  From with the open gift, there's a button up in the toolbar that looks like 2 pieces of paper, that has a dropdown menu, or it's also available under the gift menu in the top menu bar and then choose apply to.
