cleaning up of fund IDs

Options
Hello,

Question... I am trying to do some clean-up of duplicate fund ID/campaign IDs, which we don't want to use in the future but have used in the past.   If I make a fund ID or campaign ID inactive, does that make the donor and donor gifts associated with that fund ID or campaign ID inactive as well and not show up in queries we may run in the future on those inactive funds and campaigns?  Has anyone done this? THANK YOU!!

  • Hi Catrina,

no making those inactive will not do anything to previous gifts. You just cannot add new gifts with that fund id/campaign id/appeal id - whatever you inactivate

When you do queries or exports you want to check the box that says disaplay inactive funds (campaigns/appeals - whatever you are searching on) so you can see any inactive entries
  • THANK YOU!

Hi Catrina, if you truly have duplicates, such as Dir Mail Year End and Dir Mail YE, that need consolidation, look at using Global Change, hopefully with by someone who's experienced with it, (and backup the data prior to doing this!) and then replace ones you want to get rid of with the one(s) you want to keep, then you can delete the un-used, un-wanted ones.  But, as Joanne said, marking any campaign, appeal, or fund inactive just means you can no longer input new gifts to them, but it is very easy to still pull them into queries or searches.
