Soft crediting soft credits

Hi,

I have a situation that I need help with. We have a husband and wife that had a single record. They also have a foundation record. Now the gifts from the foundation record were soft credited to the couples record. Now the husband has died and our business rules created a record for the wife and soft credited her for all the hard gifts. It did not move the soft credits from the deceased record, just the hard gifts. Is there a way in Raiser's Edge to have ALL gifts moved? The surviving spouse should get credit for anything they received soft credit for as a couple, right?

I don't have time right now to see which would work best but two options that come to mind. Both should work.

1. Merge the gifts from the husband's record into the wife's record.
2. While on the wife's record, go to the constituent menu at top and choose Soft credit for spouse's gifts. Should get pop up saying it will credit all.

Also, take a look at if the Foundation is now automatically soft crediting the surviving wife for any gifts going forward so that you know that will be taken care of for the future.  (in case  you don't already know how to do this, from the Foundation record, in the wife's relationship, there's a checkbox at the bottom of the 2nd tab that would be checked.)
