Export Excel 2007 (XLSX) bug workaround found!

Hello everyone!


I'm betting a number of you are dealing with the bug that has popped up from the recent windows 10 update that's interfering with the ability to make an export to Excel 2007.  The error looks something like this:

"Error opening export:Error opening Microsoft Office 2007 Application: Method '~' of object '~' failed. Make sure you have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on your machine. "


This morning I have found a workaround: 


Have Word or Excel open when you do the export and it runs just fine.


It was an accident I found this, because I was working on something in Word when I was called on to do an export, and when I hit export I realized I hadn't changed it to a csv and groaned, anticipating the popup.  Only it never came up and the export worked like it should. 


On further testing, it still happens, but much less frequently.  So this might be only part of a workaround.  If it doesn't work the first time, Try again immediately after.


Hope this prevents a lot of headaches for people!

Hi I found this too but I also found if you down load it as a CVS file, instead or an excel workbook file to excel it should work also

Unfortunately it doesn't help if you are trying to "export notes/gifts, etc. to grid to excel" from a constituent's record.  You have to choose the first option "export notes/gifts, etc. to grid" then you can change it to a csv.  I've read that the most recent MS Office updated caused this error.  I've attached the bb knowledgebase.

It may work for Word. Have not found that it will export to Excel even when I have an Excel open. My error message is slightly different as I'm running Windows 10.

You really had my hopes up, but I just tried it and it didn't work for me.
