Planning Events in Online Express: Parking Lot Questions from 8/31/2017

If you were able attend you know we had to parking lot one particular question. Please see the answer + question below!

Question: On free events, is there a way to add participants to an event without creating constituent records through Online Express?
Answer: Unfortunately, registrations flowing through the Online Express plug-in will need to be linked to a constituent record even if the event is free before downloading into Batch.


If you are really keen on not having the full constituent record you could export the information from the grid and manually add non-constituent participant records for your registrants. For instructions on how to do this please see below:


1. Navigate to the Online Express plug-in

2. Click "Download Transactions"

3. Select any "Free" registerations NOTE: These will be identified by being tagged as having "No Fees"


4. Click Export Selected


5. Export out at minimum the Constituent Information and Participant Information

6. Click the "Transaction Info" tab from the grid

7. Note the Price Unit as this will not be part of the export. Additionally, you will want to note any participant attributes.


8. Manually add the participant record

9. Navigate back to the plug-in and delete the transaction/registration to prevent it from being downloaded in error
