Autoresponders for specific donation form

Options

I have a special donation form linked to a button on my home page. The donation form is called SOS (Susan's Open-Water Swim). I need to revise the autoresponder thank you to reflect the fact that the donation is for this specific fundraiser and donations will go toward the medical clinic. I do not have a separate campaign for SOS, just a donor form. Do I need a campaign in order to assign a special autoresponder to that donation form? I tried to figure this out but I'm stumped. Thanks.

  • Hi Katie,

Convio's autoresponders are specific to each donation form and can be unique for each form. You don't have to create an entirely separate or new campaign in order to customize the thank-you messages your donors receive.

Here's how to update the autoresponders for any specific donation form:

    1. Go to Fundraising > Donation Management

    2. The SOS form you created is part of the "Convio Go! Campaign", so click the "Manage" link for this campaign

    3. From the list of donation forms that appears, click "Edit" for the SOS form

    4. You're now editing the settings for this specific donation form. You can skip to step #5, "Configure Autoresponders"

    5. You'll see several kinds of autoresponders listed. First and foremost, you'll want to "Edit" the "Standard Donation Thank You" autoresponder.

Once you've edited the standard thank-you text, you may want to modify any of the other autoresponders as well, if they're relevant to your donation form settings.

    Katie,

Right now you're set up to "Send the Site Default Version," a general thank you form. You'll need to click "Switch to Customized Version" to edit your donation form text as Patrick instructed.

    Hope that helps!

I'm totally confused. I followed Patrick's instructions and the standard thank you under Convio Go (campaign)>SOS (donation form) mentioned something about a premium of a tee shirt arriving in 2-4 weeks. This was published by convio in Feb of 2008. Are we promising all of our donors tee shirts? Also, I don't want to thank donors for contributing to the Convio GO! campaign. Our donors don't know what that is. I thought this was all set up properly when I submitted the guide at the beginning. Can someone please call me? I'm very unclear on what's being emailed and how to revise.

    Thanks.

    Hi Katie,

Couple things to understand before you get going...

During configuration, you submitted the onling giving guide with content for a general donation autoresponder. This is your "Site Default Version." Your Go! donation forms are set to send this autoresponder. If you want to preview the default version, set your autoresponder to "Send the Site Default Version" and then click preview.

If you want to send something different than your Site Default Version, you'll need to click "Send the Customized Version" and then build your new autoresponder. There is some hint text for you in the custom version that you'll delete or type over...it is just there to help you get started, but usually folks choose to scratch Convio's starter content. For instance, the conditional content about a premium tee shirt is just there to show you that you can include a mention of a premium if you want. You type what you actually want to say and remove Convio's starter text.

If you have more questions, just reply to this thread and I'll get right back to you.

  • Hi Rachael,

Per our conversation, I created an "SOS" campaign in Common Ground and in Convio. I then copied the SOS donation form from the Convio Go! campaign into the new SOS campaign. Then I treid to create the new cross ref in Convio but I got the following error message when I tried to save the cross ref: "You need to enter a non-empty value. Please try again." I don't know what that means.

Great work on getting that far! When you are setting up a cross reference for a new campaign, you'll need to choose something from each of the three drop down menus:

    1. Convio Value -- You'll choose your new Convio donation campaign here. In this case choose the new campaign for SOS

    2. Common Ground Campaign -- Choose your CG campaign here.

    3. Common Ground Designation

You can optionally type a description in there...always helpful, espeically as you get more and more of them.

Then click Save and you should be set. If this doesn't work, respond back to this tread and we'll take a closer look.

  • Hi Rachael,

The form to create a new cross reference asks for three things:

Convio Value: (This has a drop down menu and I selected "SOS Alcatraz Swim: SOS Alcatraz Swim" (for Campaign & Donation Form)

The other two things that this form asks for are listed below and neither of those have a drop down menu. If I leave them blank and click "Save," I get the message Error:You need to enter a non empty value. Please try again.

    Foreign Value:

    Description:

I don't see anything about a Common Ground Campaign or a Common Ground Designation. Please take a closer look and let me know.

    Thanks!

Make sure you've click "Donation Campaign Cross-Reference" when you get to the cross-reference types tab. It sounds like you're trying to cross-reference a donation FORM instead of CAMPAIGN.

Try that and let me know.

I was in the donation form cross ref b/c that's where my notes from our call directed me. I went back in and created the cross ref under the SOS campaign. Is there something that Ruhi needs to do at this point? Or are we good to go? Will donations made at through the website find their way over to CG and have the proper designation at this point? Thanks!
