Multi-Part Events and difficulties with child events

I am trying to set up a multi-part event that is a weekly ticketed event in which people can register for the entire series or pay a "drop-in" sort of fee for individual sessions. It appears that my "child" events (i.e. each individual date for this weekly series) are not appearing on the user-end calendar. It also appears that, if I select a range of dates for this weekly series, the event shows up on every day for the calendar.

Does anyone know of solutions to this problem? I'd hate for one of our constituents to think this class is offered daily and show up for nothing!
