Scanning Barcode for Gift Entry

Having trouble scanning barcode (3 of 9) for gift entry in batch. Have tried two different brand of scanner. I have had the barcode printed in sizes 12 up to 26. While occasionally it will scan the barcode, most times it does not work. Is there a better scanner to use? Does font size matter?

    As long as you can clearly tell the difference between "bars" and spaces then the height of the font shouldn't matter.  Even the cheapest scanner should work okay with RE if the barcodes are printed well.  The scanner functions as a 2nd keyboard.  Try opening Word and doing some scans and see if you get good scans there.
