Advice Needed: Donation form or Event form?

Hello Online Express-ers,


During our Planning an Event with Online Express webinar this week one of our attendees needed a little bit of advice on using a donation form vs an event form. I thought this would be a good opportunity for us to start up a discussion amongst our Online Express rockstars to hopefully give some advice. Please see the specific example below:


"Our organization allows donors to purchase bricks for a memorial walkway. We allow the donors to select brick size and enter tribute messages to appear on the brick. Would this fundraising initiative best be positioned on an Online Express donation form or an Online Express event form?"


We'd love to hear your feedback on how our attendee can position this. What pros and cons can you think of that may help her make an informed decision?

    We ran almost the same type of campaign a while back and we ran through the donation side.  The event side is just too cumbersome and the reporting is frustrating.  Trying to get the information to export and sort from events seems unreasonably difficult and I am not new to this area.  On the other hand, the donation side reported fairly well.  I always try, if possible, to run through donation unless I have not choice and must use events. 

     

  • I have the exact same question. Cindi/Grace, I'm curious HOW to set up the donation form. Did you collect the name in the comment field, or as an attribute? I'm running into the issue that I cannot add a gift attribute unless it is "Only 1 per record" and I'm not sure how to handle individuals that would want to purchase multiple bricks in one single transaction, or even purchase multiple bricks over their lifetime.
