Updating bounced emails at once

Hello all,


I have a small RE database that apparently has never had a check for bounced emails. We use NetCommunity for our emails, so it keeps track of which emails bounce. However, for record-keeping purposes it is important that I also removed all of these bounced emails from my database. (Or label them inactive)  I have a list of over 700 emails which I found by querying "Last Bounce Error" that are hard-bounces. They may also be different email types ("Email vs "Work Email", etc) If I had a hundred or so I'd just go through them individually, but because I have so many, that would be unrealistic. 


Is there any way at all to change these emails all at once to inactive or chang their email type? I've looked at global change, but it doesnt seem possible through that.

Hi Moe-


You can use Import to complete this task, but in order to change all of the emails in question to Inactive you'll first have to use Export to get them out of Raiser's Edge with Phone Import Ids. If you can't do this and are forced to work with email addresses already on a spreadsheet, you can instead export every phone number in your database with an Import Id and use VLOOKUP to bring those Phone Import Ids into your spreadsheet. Important Note: You'll need to already have Constituent Id or Constituent Import Id in that spreadsheet for the import to work.


To start:


Create constituent query that looks for the email addresses in question (e.g., Phone Numer is One Of, etc)


Create an Export file with following outputs:

•   Constituent Id
•   Phone Import Id
•   Inactive?
•   Phone Number
•   Phone Type

You'll use that exported file to re-import the emails back into your database as Inactive.


Update the Inactive? column to read YES for all of the phone numbers in your Export file.


Under Constituent Import, Use Constituent Phone Import and map your fields.





All of your phone numbers will now be updated as Inactive.
