apple pay intermittent fail, possibly on un-updated devices?

Options
I've gotten a couple of reports of errors with 'this page isn't working' from people using the Blackbaud-provided ApplePay form.   The person reporting was running a slightly older version of iOS -- 10.0.1 -- on an iPhone6+.

  • I have yet to get it to work, but thought it was my setup.  I didn't think about that I was using an older OS.  I bet that's what it is.
  • The person who had this error is a developer and was able to provide a debug log.  The errors are referrer related:

'Failed to set referer policy: the value 'origin-when-crossorigin' is not one of 'no-referrer', 'origin', 'no-referrer-when-downgrade', or 'unsafe-url'.

'Blocked a frame with origin "https://payments.blackbaud.com" from accessing a frame with origin "https://secure2.convio.net".  Protocols, domains, and ports must match.'

Further diagnostic info from the original bug reporter:

I upgraded to 10.3.2 and tested the form in Safari and got the error message again :( then closed the window and tried again and it worked, then several more times with reboots and clearing cache and it worked each time.  Seems like it's working most of the time, but the problem does not appear to be connected to the OS version.

Have you submitted this as a support ticket? Probably a good idea since it doesnt appear to be an error in your development.
  • Thanks for the post, Will!

We've evaluated the content you've provided and here's where we are:

    1. Blackbaud Checkout, when summoned by Luminate, usually loads within just a few seconds under normal conditions; that's the norm for the majority of the interactions. However, we will be increasing the wait time for Blackbaud Checkout from 10 seconds to 15 seconds in the 17.8 Luminate Online release, currently scheduled for August 15th and 22nd. There are many factors that could result in a delayed loading of Blackbaud Checkout; internet connectivity, and network latency are two factors that are out of our control. The engineering team will be reviewing areas that are in our control to see if additional efficiency can be incorporated.
    2. The VisaCheckout error is really just a warning, and not the root cause of the experience you're receiving. We've reopened this thread with Visa again though just to ensure the information we received from them when saw this warning in our testing is still accurate.
When we designed the interaction between Luminate and Blackbaud Checkout, we wanted to engineer a solution that offered donors additional options if there were problems loading Blackbaud Checkout. We wanted to make sure that donors could continue to a donation form and make their desired gift.

Feel free to connect directly if you have any additional concerns.

Thanks, and have a fantastic afternoon!

  • We are also receiving this error. Also, when the donation does process, the Blackbaud Secure Checkout pages loads and says it was successful (and it appears in Luminate Online), while the actual Apple Pay application says the donation could not process. Anyone else experience this?
