The Toronto Raiser's Edge Healthcare User Group met on June 16th, with discussions on reporting and more. There are some useful tidbits that came out of the meeting that I want to share with everyone here:
  • Dashboards: watch out for assumptions (gift types, soft credits, etc.); also make sure any shared dashboards are "in synch" (up-to-date with no user-driven changes).
  • Admin fees can be added to Raiser's Edge in many ways, but it was generally agreed that they're best left outside of the actual gift record (because Raiser's Edge mainly reports on "raised" revenue). There was discussion on adding admin fees into the GL distributions tab in a Fund record.
  • Best practices for custom reports: this may sound elementary, but always document your custom reports (both on the report itself...especially for VBA code, and outside of the report). Audit your custom report to make sure the data makes sense for the audience.
  • The group discussed a custom report that reports on pledges: original amount, pledge installments, pledge payments, and a pledge balance. I have mocked up a sample custom report.
