How to cleanup relationship phone numbers using Import

So I'm hoping someone out there can help - I'm completely stumped ....

• I'm trying to do a final cleanup from our RE 7.95 upgrade where the phone numbers got restructured.  
• I did my prework and cleanup before the upgrade, but apparently not enough - and ended up with this problem scenario on individual relationship records and phone numbers:

I need to cleanup these 'repeated' phone numbers - where the phone (in yellow) is coming from the related record but the phone (in blue) is the same phone number left on the relationship record.


Can anyone figure out how I can export out these relationship phones (with enough information to identify which constituents they relate to) so I can find these duplicate situations - and fix them or delete them?

• In import, i've tried the individual relationship import (to create an export file) but I can only get relationship import IDs and phone data.
• So it's not enough for me to make sense of what's going on and identify the duplicate info.

Unfortunately it looks like the de-duplicate phones plug-in isn't available for 7.94 upwards


Is there a particular reason you need to use Import to export the data, or could you use a constituent or relationship export instead? It looks like phone import IDs are available in both of those types.

Alan - Thank you for your suggestions!  As you mention, I think I can get to this using a relationship export - I can see where multiple occurrences of a certain phone type occur and then target these for cleanup.  Yippee!!!

If you try export/import to set it up for phone cleanup...how will you be able to target the "blue" numbers from the sea of "yellow" numbers? I think they'll just all show up as dups, and you wouldn't want to import something to change the wrong one. I just finished a targeted cleanup of hundreds of these phone numbers...still a bunch left I'm sure, so it'd be nice to do it a bit faster for the next round!

I ended up using the relationship export to export out the business phone numbers on every record in my system, and then find the occurrences where it exported out more than 1.  I then compared the two phones and if they were the same, these are the ones that I want to target for cleanup.  In my export, I have the constituent ID of the organization record these relationships sit on, so was able to then create a query (from the IDs) of the org records where the relationship phones need to be cleaned up.


So I did not accomplish the actual cleanup using export/import, but was at least able to find the records on which these dupes sit -- which narrows down the number of records I need to open to check.  So I'm fairly happy !!!  I'm already through my 'C's for cleanup -- in under an hour ....
