Tribute Gifts - creating constituents in RE as "Mom", "Trump", "God" etc

Does anyone know if you can turn off the connection between Tribute Gift recipients and RE?

To give more detail, we have issues with donors donating in honor of, say, their Mums etc but the Tribute Name field then creates a new constitent record in RE under "Mum", which is clearly not a constituent we can develop.


Does anyone have a work-around? Or know how to turn it off, or selectively decide to add constituents?

I sent a similar question to the Community a few weeks ago as we received a Tribute for Mother's Day and the donor didn't list her mother's name and entered her email so the ECard could be sent to the donor to forward onto her Mother. I didn't receive a response from anyone from the Community if they had a work around. I ended up creating the Tribute under the donor's name and then had to merge the records after I batched the gift. Hello Sarah and Lisa,


I've seen this question posed on a few of our discussion boards (i.e. Online Express, NetCommunity) where donors will use input 'in honor of our troops' or a pet name. Short of turning off the tribute option on your Luminate form, there are some different methods users take to help clean up the generic names. Take a look below at some other discussion threads:

• Create a generic/catch-all constituent record and use the honor/memorial tab to set up each tribute
• Utilize the Comments/Attributes/Description section

I don't have a best practice other than find a process you can commit to for consistency. I'll take a look at our other forums to see if there are more ideas or best practices others use and post back here.
