Processing Donations in OLX

I'm not sure if the correct location for this post should be BBMS or OLX.  when someone from a business makes a payment online for our organization, the payment "donation" gets processed through online express.  In order to process the transaction electronically, I have to create a "dummy" RE7 record with the name of the person at the organization to link a record to the OLX transaction.  then, once I'm in the RE7 batch, I can add the correct organization, and control Y (shortcut to apply to a pledge).  So, I'm basically creating a dummy record because I can't get the system to find the organization record.  It appears as though the system is looking only for an individual record?

I don't know of any way to get OLX to look up an organization record (or a spouse/partner for that matter).  My solution has been to create a new individual constituent in OLX, commit the batch, then convert the individual record into an organization record and merge it to the organization's real record to transfer the gift.  I don't have payments to deal with though, just donations from organizations.

You are absolutely in the right place! The "Individual" that the Online Express plug-in is looking for (or seeking to create a record for) is to have a record to tie the Billing information to. For example, if Tiffany Getch went onto your Online Express page and made a donation of behalf of Blackbaud you would have to have an individual record to link Tiffany as the person making the payment but the gift record itself would go onto Blackbaud's record. Essentially the Individual linking is so that the record is accurately reflecting the "Cardholder name" as shown in this example below:




Once the batch has been committed the gift record would look like this:

While for one-time gifts the additional step of linking to an individual may seem tedious it is neccessary for recurring gifts when future charging needs to store the appropriate cardholder information. Additionally, it allows non-profits the opportunity to know who is responsible for making gifts on behalf of organizations and who they can reach out to for future solicitations.
