Help please - advice for using OLX for upcoming golf event

We are very recent adopters of NXT (including the events module) and OLX we have BBMS payment services.  We have an upcoming Golf event for which we would like to do offsite payment and checkout for auction sales/donations, etc.  We would like to speak with someone that can help advise us:

1. We understand there is a mobile events app for registration and payments but it appears to be for ipad only?  We use other surface and want to know if there compatibility has changed (looks like the brochure was created in 2014, any updates?)

2. Could we create an OLX donation page for our website that we could have open at our event and process payments and donations "check out" using a donation form?  If the same IP address is doing significant volume of payments with in a short time frame will it processor kick out?  (we had an issue with another backed donation page processor last year when we tried this approach -- after we used the donate page more than certain number of times from the same IP, it locked as a fraud failsafe). 

3. Could we use some combination of an OLX events registration page on website for walk in registrants open on our tablets and OLX donations page for processing payments at check out?  Can we use general swipe technology with BBMS for processing payments or is there a requirement to buy Blackbaud swipe tech (and does it work with non apple tablets?)

4. Webinars address bits and pieces but not the entire picture...we would like to speak with a live person to map this process out. Do you know orcan you direct us to an expert on this topic that can help/get on a call with our team.

Thank you for reaching out. I'm Grace Tate and am one of the Onboarding and Adoption Program Managers (alongside the lovely Tiffany Getch)! I'll lead with: bear with me. I know my response is long but I wanted to ensure I was fully answering your questions. Please see my responses to your numbered questions below:


1) As of right now, the Raiser’s Edge Mobile Event App is only compatible with iPads. At this time there is not currently a timetable available for when this functionality will become available for other Microsoft and 3rd party products. As we continue to develop RE NXT which can be accessed from any device with internet connection our goal is to decrease the need for apps working as the middle man and instead allow organizations to enter information directly into Raiser’s Edge while on the go.


2) You absolutely could do this. If you decide to go this route I would recommend reaching out to our Blackbaud Merchant Services Support team to “White list” your IP address. You are correct that donations would be halted if you used the same IP address (flagged as potentially fraudulent charges since that is considered to be suspicious activity) but if you reach out to our BBMS team prior to the event we can ensure you are whitelisted and it should not be an issue.


3) You could use your OLX event registration form at the door (as you mentioned earlier) and once they submit the form the charging would take place (unless it was a pledge, recurring gift, or direct debit). We do offer Blackbaud MobilePay which functions similarly to Square which allows you to swipe cards and accept donations from any iPhone, iPad, or Android device. 4) Our webinairs are geared to provide high level overview on functionality to be useful to all organizations. Blackbaud absolutely offers consulting services that can offer advice and solutions tailored to your specific organizations' needs. I too wish the event app was available on additional devices, but that said I'm really optimistic for the NXT incorporation for events.  So far I've been very happy with each addition to NXT and I have high hopes for the coming Event management tools.  My two cents, yes you can use the registration form at the event, but in my experience it will create a long line if you have very many who don't register early so it may be worth using your phone/tablet and the square for payment.
