Hi everyone!  We have a new Director of Advancement and while I am the primary user of RE, we are trying to get it so he can check in on his computer when I am not using it.  He can log in and then gets a text message about something called launch.  Suggestions from Blackbaud have not helped.  Anyone have any ideas?

  • How many user licenses does your organization have? If your sharing a license, I'd recommend purchasing another.

Diane, could you post a screen shot so we can see the details of the Launch error? Also, are you using Citrix to connect?

There should be no reason why two people can't sign in to RE on two different machines as the same user* provided that the user is not still signed in on another machine. In other words, not at the same time, which is what you want to do. It's not ideal, but licenses aren't cheap and, unfortunately, Blackbaud doesn't issue view/read-only licenses (though I think it used to?).

To ensure that you're completely signed out of RE, don't just close it using File/Exit or the "X", always use File/Exit and Sign Out {Account name}. (Or, if you have the VBA Module, you can force a signout on close.)

    * Conversely, if you've ever had to run a long query on your machine, thereby locking you out of the session, you can actually open another instance of the RE client on the same machine and do some other work. As Michael Caine may or may not have said, "Not a lot of people know that" ...

Hi, I work at Blackbaud in Customer Success, so I'm able to check your user licenses and see you have 1 user license for Raiser's Edge. This means 1 concurrent user allowed at one time. If your colleague is getting a message about launch.ica, it has everything to do with Citrix Receiver. That's all I got. Cheers!
