Query tool and double parentheses (parens)

Options

You may run into a situation where you need to use double parentheses when creating a complex query, such as when you need constituents who are in a certain group, live in a certain state and county or are in one other state, and in specific counties in that state, you might need to have double parentheses to make the query work properly.  This isn't currently possible with the Query Tool, but there is a way to get what you need.  First you can make a query for one of the larger chunks of the query, such as:

Home Address State is x,

AND ( Home address county is y

OR home address county is Z)

Once you have the results of that query, you can then click on "Use query results" in the upper right of the results and create a group from the results. Then you can alter the original query have a parameter for membership in that group

Home Address State is a,

AND ( Home address county is b

OR home address county is c)

OR is a Member of Group You created

Whenever you run this query, it automatically runs the query that builds the group you created, so that the results are accurate.
