Set Range Operators in Query e.g. 'Last Month', 'This Week' etc.

I'm trying to make sure the set ranges mean what I think they mean. What exactly does 'last week' mean? The last 7 days? The last Monday-Sunday (or god forbid the bizarre American way of doing it - the Last Sunday - Saturday?!) Same for Quarter and Financial Year. In the UK the HMRC financial year runs from 06th April, but our's is from the 1st. The blackbaud definitions really aren't much help!:
