page not using correct pagewrapper?

Options

Hello all,

i am working on a site with two basic pagewrappers.  One for the homepage, and one for the content pages.  I have the content pagewrapper as my default, and I have the homepage set to override the default pagewrapper and use the "homepage wrapper"  However, when I go to the live page, it appears using the default pagewrapper.

Is there something that would cause the override not to work?

thanks in advance,

Edwin

  • The most basic question to ask is if there is a published version of the homepage wrapper. That would be one case (if they were all draft or inactive) where the override would not work.

Secondly, if that is not the trouble, I seem to remember having trouble similiar to this when using/changing security categories and copying wrappers. You might want to create a new wrapper, and copy the HTML code over. Publish that, and then try the override.

    Thanks for the response.

Yes, there is a published version of both pagewrappers, so that is not the issue.

Is your second recommendation saying that I need to create a new security category just for the homepage, and have a default wrapper in that security category?

    Thanks again,

No. Using pagewrapper overrides is definitely better than using security categories.

I'm saying that I would create a new wrapper entirely (NOT just a new version of that wrapper), and copy the HTML over from the existing homepage wrapper.

Yes, thats what I did.  I have two separate page wrappers, not just different versions of the same one.

I have a "main" and a "homepage" pagewrapper, and Im using the "homepage" wrapper as the override one just on the actual homepage of the website.  But the override doesnt seem to take?

Yes I know. I'm saying that you might need to create another -- essentially do the homepage wrapper over again (not by copying it but creating a fresh one). There were circumstances for us where -- depending on how the wrapper was created -- that it would not show up as an override.

Ah I see.  Ill give that a shot.  thank you again for your responses.
