How to code companies with multiple branches in Raiser's Edge?

Options
In our database we keep separate constituent records for companies with branches in different cities. That helps, when generating acknowledgments, but also creates difficulties, when
  • Entering MG pledges (we enter a MG pledge on one record and the payment comes from another address etc.)
  • Generating giving histories
  • Entering gifts (we usually create a new constituent record, when a gift from a new branch arrives), to know the address for the related check.
What is the best practice to code companies with multiple branches in raiser’s Edge – one record with multiple addresses (how to produce acknowledgments in that scenario) or multiple constituent records for the company?
Thank you!

    Toniya,

There have been numerous threads/posts about this topic.  From reading those, I would say most orgs keep separate records for each branch. MG - where to enter may just be some time to learn which entity issues the checks. For giving history - SC to a HQ record for full picture. Some manage it with relationships also. If you search the forums you can read what many have already posted.

  • We usually keep them separate for the most part. Where the pledges and payments go end up being decided on a case-by-case basis.
  • Thank you Angie.
