First gift over $1000

Options
I am trying to report on donors who have given over $1000 for the first time this year. I can find new donors that have given a specific amount but I also want existing donors who have given over $1000 for the first time. Any ideas on the best way to do this?

Yes, first time is easier than those upgrading.  Are you looking at a single gift? If so, you could run a constituent query for largest gift > greater than or equal to $1000, with gift type, gift date criteria.  Depending on the size of your org it may generate a small enough list for manual review.

Not a clean list to provide exactly what you need but one step closer.  Will keep thinking on your question  for another way to pull it.
  • To complicate Ryan's answer, I must ask if you're looking for a single gift of $1,000, or if you wish to include any donor whose cumulative yearly gifts exceed $1,000? (For instance a donor who gave $800 and then $500 consecutively.) And, do you wish to include pledges or pledge payments? If so, you will want to use the Summary for Gift > Total Amount of Gifts field instead of Total Number of Gifts. Summary Criteria would be set to Amount greater than or equal to $1,000 and then filter by gift date, gift type, soft credit, etc. As Ryan explained, use two Summary field criteria with different date ranges.

Once you have your Constituent Query built, you can link it to a Report: I recommend the Analytical Reports > Top Donors Report. Under the final Format tab, click on Detail, which allows you to set the number of "top donors" you wish to view. If your query has 500 constituent records, set the number of top donors in the report to 500, and voila -- you will obtain a list of names, addresses, number of gifts, and total annual giving for each donor in your original query.
  • You guys are amazing! Thanks!
