Enter a negative gift?

Options
OK, first I need to clarify that I know that isn't a logical way to adjust a gift, but we have a plug-in module for our gift entry, and adjusting a gift is not an option for a gift entered through the plug-in.  But when we need to make a correction to a gift that was given several months prior, we want the correction to show up in the current month, not the date of the original gift, so that our reporting is up-to-date in real time. (We pass gifts to our partner entities on a monthly basis, so if a gift correction is dated back to the original gift date, it does not show up in the current month activity.)

We were hoping that we could enter a negative gift amount on the original gift date, and therefore zero out that gift, and then we will re-enter the gift with the current date.

We feel like we're missing something simple somewhere, but don't know what it is!  Any help would be appreciated!

No, you're not missing anything.  It's just not possible.  I'd check with whover created the plug-in about adapting its functionality to your needs.

Thanks, John.  I guess I feel better that I'm not missing some "obvious" radio button or check box or something.    At least I can let my boss know now that I've exhausted the research on the topic.

Sounds like a considerable oversight by the developer--a plugin should not prevent you from utilizing any of the core functionality of the main system.
