What is the difference between a tentative schedule for an email message and the actual schedule date?

Options

I found this on the help file that may shed a little more light on how the "Tentative Schedule" feature is used:

"...any messages that have been "tentatively scheduled" will also appear on the calendar. (These are messages where a delivery date has been set when creating the message, but for which no actual delivery has been created.)..."

Setting a tentative scheduled date allows an email to be marked as a Lapsed Message on the Email Calendar. A Lapsed Message simply means that the tentative schedule date is in the past.
