strategies for entering offline gifts

What strategies have Convio clients used to enter offline gifts into TeamRaiser other than direct data entry?

In anticipation of a large number of offline gifts with no staff to enter them, I am looking for a solution that enables me to outsource capture of the gifts into a csv file followed by upload into TeamRaiser.  Is anyone else entering gifts that way?  Is there documentation on how to do it   Are there snags to be aware of in planning parameters for data entry, data structure, file format, etc?

So far, the most effective strategy I've found after working with Convio for a couple of years is to tell your participants that they NEED to enter the information as an offline gift in their page prior to in order to ensure proper crediting.  Convio does not currently have a standard import function for bringing mass numbers of offline gifts into the system, but at least with Teamraiser you'll have a nice confirm/reject interface.
