How to update Event registration from OLX without adding a gift

How do I download my OLX event registrations (with paid fees) and have it show up in my events but not be added as a gift in the constituent record. The fee paid was for meals and is not a tax-deductible gift.

The registration will download into a gift batch and the payment is linked to the registration. If you set the default benefits correctly in the event record, the receipt amount will be recorded as  $0.

Ditto what Mary said. Or, if you are adamant about not recording the fees in their gift record, download the gift into the batch, discard the batch, and enter the registration fee manually. Participant information will still be downloaded into the Event, there just won't be a gift to link to in RE. Haven't done this recently, but if I remember correctly, there may be a warning message when saving the event participant record, that "there is no gift linked to this payment", but aside from that it works alright.
