My agency is in the process of revising our donation envelopes. Does anyone have any suggestions on information to include or the best online service for creating the envelopes?

  • Depends on the type of donation envelope. We have two basic types: Appeal reply envelope, and thank-you letter reply envelope.

Our appeal reply envelope just has the basics: our delivery address, "Place postage here" box in the corner, bar coding, and logo. Most of our other information is carried by the appeal card and/or appeal letter.

For our thank-you letters, we include another, smaller envelope along with the letter, and this envelope has an elongated back flap with ways to give: Gift designation selection; Method of payment; Name, address, and email; "Please send information on planned giving" box, "I have included you in my will" box, and our website address. Quite a few people use the thank-you letter envelopes for sending in their second gifts.

As far as printing, we have our own press which prints them for us. You can always order to get them printed through us, lol <<advertise, advertise>>  angel

We are now including an option to "make this a monthly donation" and we include our privacy policy and phone number.

Depends on if you want your envelope to have one purpose or be all serving.  We opt for all serving -- so we can use the same one for the whole year and we just tag them if there are specific appeals we want to track.

We ask for the basics: name, address, email phone, is the gift IMO or IHO for... and who to send a notice to.  We also have a small area that lists the giving levels.  And it states that all monies go to .... unless otherwise written on the envelope.

Our BRE is dedicated to our school's Annual Fund, and we print them annually. As others have mentioned, we include boxes to opt for monthly giving and show our giving levels. We also give the option of making a pledge and providing a fulfillment date, have a check box to request information about gifts of stock, allow for paying by check or credit card, indicate if the donor's gift will be matched by their employer, and provide the URL for making a gift online.
