Giving Levels

We just recently decided to brand our giving levels to create more donor interest.  I was just wondering if there was a concrete way to go about doing this in RE.  I'm guessing the easy way to have a gift attribute for each gift but i was wondering more general.

Jesse, if you have set amounts for each level, you may want to check out the Donor Catagory Report.  You set amounts and name and it will pull based on your criteria/filters.  One advantage over attribute on each gift is you can pull total for those donors who make multiple cash gifts not tied to a pledged amount.

You can enter a Donor Category Table with all of your named levels and the amounts.  That allows you to to pulled Donor Category Reports.  It's a beautiful thing. 


I would not suggest putting that info in Attributes -- you would have to constantly maintain it as opposed to letting RE do the work for you.  Just my two cents.

We have the levels below - big suggestion is to start  numbering them with LOWEST = 01 (then you can increase levels as appropriate easily), RE can sort and report on these with ease.  We then have a matrix to show what the donor "gets" at each level (from simple wall recognition to billboard, photo of cheque presentation to page in local paper).

The best place to do giving levels in my opinion is the Donnor Category table in Config and use the Donor Category Report.  This way, RE is keeping track of the giving levels for you and they are automatically changed when a donor reaches a new level.  If you use Attributes you have to keep track of it manually and there is lots of room for human error.  My two cents.
