how is your organization using Funds, Campaigns and Approach in eTapestry?

Hello-

How is your organization using Funds, Campaigns and Approach in eTapestry?

It seems the way I have been using does not make sense for my Board members. This is how i have been using my funds, campaigns and approach (this a few examples);

Fund: 2016 Annual Appeal

Campaign:  Annual Appeal

Approach:  Mailing Annual Appeal

Fund: 2017 Home and Garden Tour

Campaign: Home and Garden

Approach: mailing Home and Garden

They say the order is incorrect, the fund should be the campaign. Please any suggestions?

Thank you

Milly

    Dear Milly Caez:

We use the fund as Restricted or Unrestricted.  I have also seen it used as Program Income, Event Income etc.

We then use the Campaign: Jodi's Race 2017 or Gala 2017 or General Donation

Then the Approach could be Registration             Registration    Individual Donation

Team Donation        indiv Ticket      Foundation Donation

etc.  The fund is the big bucket where the donation occurs then the campaign is the first filter the the approach is a further filter.

Hope that makes sense since I am functioning before I have any coffee

  • Hi Milly,

We use the fund as restricted and unrestricted; campaign is Annual Fund 2016-2017 (we change the years at the end/beginning of each fiscal year); and the approach is the name of the appeal we mail out. Example: 2016 Fall Champion, 2016 Summer Champion, 2016 Offering, etc. Our BRE mailed out with the appeal has the name of the appeal making it easy to know how to code the donation.

    Hope this helps.
