Board Relationships

Options
I need help with the best way to go about finding all of our board member's relationships and their giving histories.  I have tried a relationship query and did criteria constituency code = board etc.  am i missing something?  is it better to just use all their IDs instead?

  • The easiest way to do this would probably to be to use a constituent query. In the Criteria tab, include your constituency code information. In the output tab you'll want Constituent ID and Name to get your board member info, and then Relationship > Individual > Name (assuming you're looking for individuals, use Organization if not). I might also output the Relation Code and Recip Relation Code, assuming you use those fields.

I know best practices would probably be to take this query and pipe it into an export and add your relationship information there, but I actually prefer duplicating the Board member's data for each relationship, which is what you get from the query output. You can then do fun stuff in Excel like COUNTIF to see how many relationships each board member has.
  • You have not described what happened or what did not seem to work when you did the query you described.

You can try to create 'fake' org records for each board you're trying to track, then make a relationship with the members. This way they are really easy to capture in a query (give me anyone who has relationship of xxx to the board record).  It works great for this --
